WELLBURN FARM DEVELOPMENT
2010-01-30
A mailing has been issued from Banks Developments with an update on the Wellburn Farm Development;
"I am writing to notify you that a planning application for Permission in Principle was submitted to South Lanarkshire Council on 18 December 2009, and to take the opportunity to inform you of the details of the proposals and any changes made as a result of the exhibition. A copy of the Masterplan submitted with an indicative layout of how the scheme may look is attached for your information"
"Throughout the process leading up to the submission of the planning application, feedback has been given from various parties and fed into the application.
Due to the suggested alterations in the access arrangements for the site the number of the self-build plots has been increased from 9 to 18 and the live/work layout that sits behind has been altered slightly to accommodate these changes. Despite these suggested changes the main principles behind the design have not been altered. There will be a reduction in the overall number of units to the rear of the self build plots, including the number of live-work units, which will hopefully ease concerns raised by a few residents at the exhibition."
"I would like to re-iterate that the layout is indicative only, simply to establish the principle of development - all detailed design and layouts will have to be approved through a further planning application, at which time further public consultation will take place.
"We would welcome your support for the proposals, or any comments you may have and would be more than happy to discuss the scheme with you in more detail should you require — contact our Community Engagement Co-ordinator, Siobhan Samson on 01698 477410 or siobhan.samson@banksdevelopments.com"

Banks have indicated they’ve made their submission to the Scottish Government Community Development legislation. If approved it will of course have to go through the normal planning procedures.

Banks Property Development have purchased this area, [to the north of Teiglum Road, beyond the existing industrial units subject to eventual planning approval. Their idea is a mixture of residential and ‘live-in’ work units; we’ve seen an outline plan and it looks interesting. Banks are cautiously going about the process. However in the current climate who knows what may happen. We’ve been impressed by the open communication from Banks representatives and their willingness to talk about funding village projects.
